BACKSTORY: Big shot art collectors looking for original cityscapes well here you are! This particular piece focuses on buildings on the upper west side of manhattan. This image was painted outdoors at around 10 am on a Sunday morning. The upper westside is symbolic to me because its where I grew up. From a kid growing up to adult I saw decades of real estates developing. Ranging from neighborhood hotels to residential skyscrapers I wanted to capture the history of my birthplace.
I used earthly colors to articulate the surfaces of the two buildings. My goal was to highlight the contrast between the white and light brown buildings. A cloud that passed by trough the day is seen above the building with an occlusion shadow.
